Just talked with Chops tonight. He called and is in great spirits. He is 100% blind now but his Leukemia is GONE!!!!! \:D/ He had a bone marrow transplant and the associated chemo and all is going great from that. He went from 275# down to a current 150#. He has started physical therapy to help with regaining muscle mass.

I hope to have pics of his 50 Packard soon. He has had the body work done and painted a flat black. The interior is done in white tuck and roll. Last summer they (his dad, him and his daughter) drove it to Columbus to the Good Guys car show and had a blast. That was around the time he lost all sight.

Overall he and his family are doing great. If anyone wants his phone number, PM me or Lynne.

I just saw this thread for the first time. Don't know how I missed it. I hope Chops is doing well and gets his strength back. Is there any chance of him getting some eye sight back???

It is doubtful. Diabetes can cause your retinas to detach and basically starve for blood and die. It can be fixed in some cases if caught in time. There's more to it than that, I'm simplifying a bit. Once diabetes takes your vision, it is usually gone. There are exceptions, and I hope like hell that Dennis is a lucky one like myself. I can still pass the driver licence test if I get new glasses that month, but just barely.

Thanks for the well wishes, I will pass them along when I talk to him again.

As for his sight, I don't think he will ever get it back. The issues with his eyes is what started the whole process rolling. He woke up one day with a burning sensation in his eyes and they were badly bloodshot. He went to the ER and they sent him to a specialist and then to another. His eyes had swollen to the point they needed to be operated on. The swelling went down for a few days but came right back. He then had drainage tubes inserted into his eyes and they worked for a little while. One morning he woke up to a blood soaked pillow and that is when the Dr. figured he had a blood disorder. They then tested for a reason and the rest you know. His eyes got worse and worse. He said the last day he saw anything was July 17th, 2009.

ASV is such a supportive family. At the very least, know that we too here in the T.Low Household are keeping you and yours in our prayers, and if you are ever in the area and need any type of assistance at all, don't hesitate to PM.

Gary...call him! He is doing great considering what he's been through. I think a few phone calls would be just what he wants.
