Injector question...
I fell kinda stupid even asking this, but i can't find the answer..
Are BOTH fuel injetors supposed to spray ALL the time?...What I mean is, one of my injectors will not spray at idle nor if I rev it up (in park, in my driveway)
Does the 'puter "tell" it when to fire (in some situations) or is it suppoed to be spraying even at idle?
Can these be checked on the bench somehow?
Outside of removing and swapping them, is there any other way to make sure it IS the injector, or a wiring/computer issue?
Close..SOOOO close..

Re: Injector question...
Uh you have problems. Check electrical and use check the resistance of both injectors.

Re: Injector question...
Thanks Robo..What is the resistance supposed to be?
and do I look for power at the malfunctioning injector by placing my multimeter prongs where they would snap on the injector?..if so..what should it read? 12v?
Pretty basic questions I know..but I sure don't want to mess anything up WORSE

Re: Injector question...
You should have 12V from one of the wires constantly. The other is the ECU wire. You can get some lights from Autozone I believe and see if it looks like it's functioning properly. Besides that the injectors are 1.2 or 2.4 ohms I can't remember which wanting to say they are 2.4 ohms however.

Re: Injector question...
I'll try the wires. I tried testing the resistance on the injectors..both read the same..which is to say..none..OR maybe I did it wrong..have to read the multimeter instuctions again...

Re: Injector question...
ok..IF i did it right. I'm getting 1.6 resistance on each injector, but NO 12v from either. Now, I did this w/no "key on" or anything like that....
Is that the correct procedure?..if not..what position is the key supposed to be in?
Somewhat confused...

Re: Injector question...
well..ok..I tried switching the injector connectors...even switched, ONLY the driver's side injector is spraying.....Now, unless there's some weird computer controlled stuff i don't understand. i take it that the pass. side injector is failing...
am I missing something..or have I got this right?

Re: Injector question...
hmmm.....ok
According to the "noid" (injector tester) I have full working wiring, BUT while i was doing this i noticed that one of my injectors (the working one) has yellow terminals and the non-working one has red...this I do NOT remember from when I put it together originally.
I cannnot remember WHY just now, but I'm quite sure BOTH my injector tips were yellow originally...Is this 2 differant injectors?..could THIS be cauing a problem?
Getting mildly weirded out here...

Re: Injector question...
IS there any way to bench test injectors? Or am I just going to have to buy another?

Re: Injector question...
Why not just swap the connectors from one injector to the other? Then if the same injector still does not spray you know it's the injector, but if now the other injector doesn't work you know it's a wiring or computer problem.

Re: Injector question...
Thanks 6sp. I tried that yesterday, and the same injector still didn't work.
So..unless there's some kind of clog or blockoff somewhere in the pod. I assume the injector's just not working.
Is there a way to bench test?

There might be, but I don't know it. You might check out this website. They may be able to help answer your questions.

Re: Injector question...
If you switched injector sides and wiring sides yeah it sounds like a "pod" issue of some sort, or the way the injectors are sitting. Red means it's probably a new production injector and if it's orangeish that means it's a GM/Rochester made unit. Besides that you can send them out to an EFI place, but at the same time I'd probably be inclined to find a pod with the diagnosis you've made. I would have to check and see if I have one here, if I did I'd probably sell it cheap. I may have already shipped one out though. The rebuild kit for one is like $40-50 and you could check everything out when you set it up as well.

Re: Injector question...
Fixed, dunno HOW, but it's fixed. I took apart the pod, disassembled it, looked, did a little cleaning (not much) put it back and it works..weird, but NO complaints. Thanks to all who offered advice..

act like it's running at least decently now? I would keep a very serious eye on it.
