I have a few scattered dash lights that are out and not sure if its all individule bulbs, are a fiber optice type set-up in here.
The rear wiper switch light, the lower buttons on the radio(bass/treble/scan ect), one power door lock switch, and on the opposite door, 1 power window switch, all dont light up with the headlights on.
I pulled the lower concole down to try to access the wiper and radio but cannot seem to pop out the wiper switch, affraid of breaking it. And with the radio, I dont have the unlock code so I dont want to unplug it and loose the code. I was just hoping to be able to see if there was a bulb back there or fiber optics, which I do not see either.
BTY, how can I get the radio unlock code incase I ever need it. The dealer probably charges $50.00 to give it to ya, right?
Thanks
Dan

Re: Dash Lights?
OK, I answered my own question about the lights in the switches, got the wiper switch out, there is power from the parking lights going to it but it doesnt light up, so the other switchs are probably the same and need replacement, no big deal.
I would like to know about the radio though, I have the upgraded cd radio, is there replaceable bulbs in there? Can I do it myself, or do I need a radio shop, how about the code?
Thanks again

DANVAN, I have no input but a question.
The door lock switches, is that just a bulb replacement?

Re: Dash Lights?
From what I saw with my rear wiper switch, it looks like there is a bulb inside it, but I dont think it is replaceable, I assume it is the same for the window and lock switches.

Re: Dash Lights?
DANVAN, those lights are replaceable, just don't expect to get them from GM as they are considered a 'non-serviceable' item. Typically the switches are replaced to get the illumination to work & the radios are repaired by a radio repair shop.
With a little creativity, access to a source of small bulbs & some technical know-how the bulbs can be replaced.
As to unlocking you radio, check out this topic viewtopic.php?f=11&t=42.

Re: Dash Lights?
Thanks for the info on the bulbs. After my last post I was thinking that as long as I could get the switches opened w/o breaking them, the bulbs might be replaceable, the trick is how to open them. The radio is the only one Im really concerned with, I know where the other switches are, its just hard to see all the radio buttons in the dark. Maybe some day I will attempt to open it up to see what I can find.
Thanks for the radio code info. I have the name of the original selling dealer, I may try contacting them for the radio code before doing anything else. As of now the radio works fine, I just figure I may need the code some day.
Thanks

Re: Dash Lights?
In case you never got this problem fixed...I just replaced the bulbs inside my 1998 Bonneville factory radio / cd player. It is possbile. Not terribly hard. Sorry, I didn't take any pics. Radio Shack has some very small bulbs that work for this application. The original in the Bonneville is part # CM8-A126. I couldn't find them anywhere. The Radio Shack bulbs are part # 272-1154 I think. They are 12v solder in bulbs. They are only about 1/2 as bright as the factory, but in the radio, I couldn't see any difference. I'll be doing this soon on my 2000 Safari radio as it is dark now too. I'll try to take some pics this time.
