2 wire knock sensor with only 1 lead from vcm?

I have a 1998 safari with a 2001 engine it throws a knock sensor code and clearly has a timing issue I also think the throttle position sensor is not communicating with the 98 computer properly my hope is to get a 2001 computer and plug it in and hope it takes care of all my problems Anybody have any knowledge of this? Will the 2001 computer work with my 98 trans?
Is there a fix for a 98 computer and 2001 engine sensors?

that would be my solution too however it already has the 2001 wire harness hacked into it my question is if I plug the 2001 computer into it and it doesnt run properly What would be the better idea put a new 2001 harness in it and hope it works with all the chassis sensors abs etc or put a new 98 harness into it with 98 sensors for the engine?

I guess that changes things, if you have a 2001 harness and engine, I'd try the 2001 PCM.
