Roy,

The 400's bores do move around a lot.Guys have tried to use torque plates for boring and honing,but that isn't the same as when the engine is running and is hot.Guys have tried to fill the water passages with a form of concrete and still the seal isn't consistent when doing leak down tests.

Honestly,with the little "m" aftermarket blocks cost going down every yr,it is kind of more cost effective to build a big inch SBC from that foundation and you have the add bonus of having a block casting that doesn't have as many interference problems.

yep,,,have done and know what you're going to ask,,,will it clear crossmemeber if on during motor install ? Yes but very tricky. I made a mistake and installed mine after I put the 350 in. Had to unbolt motor adapters and tranny mount and lift motor up about 3 in. and also move forward for pan to clear flexplate and crossmember and be able to bolt it up to block.
