Loss of drive when trying to overtake

Post by timmorén »

Hi, I am new to this forum and also a virgin Astro owner 4,3 EXT 10 seats app.300,000k. I was driving it home on the motorway and wanted to overtake, put my foot on the gas and all of a sudden there was no drive or engine revs. it didn't stop, and when I took my foot of it carried on as nothing had happened. Got home and checked the oil, it is much too full, could this be a cause ?

The oil being over full may not be the cause of the acceleration problem but hiding it. Drain the excess oil, change it and the filter if dirty and see how it behaves with the proper amount of oil.
