Not even sure if this is do-able due to one being obd 1 and the other being obd 2.
I have a 99 vortec 5.7 here and a 95 safari (cpi)... anyone know of a way to get the 95 van to run the 99 engine?
The wiring harnesses are gonna be way different as are the ecu plugs.
I know they sell a vortec tbi intake but its $400
Anyone got a good solution?
Personally i'm thinking carb and a 700r4 trans instead of the FI and 4l60e.

I think the easiest computer v8 to swap in place of a CPI v6 is a V8-TPI.
But I could be wrong. Someone here will correct me I'm sure....

This vortec motor has CPI SI i believe ( 1 injector and 8 poppets).
The only issue is the obd 1 to obd 2 issues without ripping the entire vans wiring harness apart.

I believe that the web site LT1swap.com has diagrams for the Vortec box. Considering it is mounted in the enigne compartment if you have the harness/box/mounts from the Vortec you should be able to make it work then just leave the stock box be I think. You may have some fudgery with the transmission too I can't recall if they changed electrically from 95 to 96+, so swapping the other trans may be easier in the long run.

Re: 99 Vortec into 95 van?
In looking into the LS swap, I found a lot of references to stand-alone engine management systems. I'd guess Painless Performance or others offers this for your engine (at significant cost). You can also build your own using the harness and computer from the doner engine and a lot of head scratching. (The web probably has the answers when you figure out where to look.) I found a couple of guys who will program the factory engine computers to make them do what you need to do on the LS boards. I realize the engine, programming and wiring is different from what I'm going to do, but I suspect the same options apply.
