I'm dropping a carbed 99 Vortec 350 into my 95 Safari van but i need to know what headers will fit?
I know on the older tbi engines you could use hedman headers but will they fit and work on the vortec heads?
If so what are the Hedman numbers?
Thanks, Gordon
Need info on what headers to use.
Re: Need info on what headers to use.
exhaust side on vortec heads is the same as any sbc, the intake ports are the difference.
Re: Need info on what headers to use.
Use the vortec version of these:
Extrusion ported, port matched,no gasket issues,no warped headers, and the best part is they work within normally used RPM ranges.Tube headers and HP are way over rated for street use because they start to work at a RPM level that you rarely use on the street.Build towards torque.

Should be fine with 68600 but watch plug clearances they shifted the plugs slightly on the Vortec heads.

I use shorty spark plugs for more clearance. More expensive, but easier to remove and install.

The 68600's are shorties are they not?

May have to make a set. I got a flange kit off of Summit for 50 shipped and a tube kit from Jegs for a little over 100. I'm going to use em for a set of turbo headers but you could do standard long tubes pretty easily that way. Not sure of any "off the shelf" that fit though.Gordon wrote:The 68600's are shorties are they not?

Re: Need info on what headers to use.
As mentioned, the Headman 68600 will work. I had these headers on my engine & reused them when I swapped in my L31 Vortec heads.
