Hi guys,
The 2000 Astro manship is acting up again. Blower motor isn't working at all. It used to work on some days....then it started working whenever it felt like it.....and now it doesn't effing work. Checking voltage to blower motor resistor, I get a little less than 12 volts......seems normal. From the blower motor resistor to the fan, I get about 5 volts (seems odd, but I will roll with 5 volts vs. 0 volts). I replaced the blower motor resistor about 10,000 miles ago.
Anyone know what the voltage should be from the resistor to the motor?
My money is on the motor being DOA.........185,000 miles......it's lived a good life.
Can anyone direct me to a write up on this blog for the motor replacement, I don't see one?
Thanking you in advance, John

Re: blower motor volage
If you place the selector on high speed you bypass the resistors all together and just use a relay for full battery voltage. Unplug the connector at the blower motor and see what you have then. I bet it's the motor as well. They are cheap from a local parts place.

Re: blower motor volage
Thanks guys:
I saw the write up on the procedure. I was really looking for the write up that starts off/ends with:
1. Call your dad.......have him fix it.
2. Enjoy your favorite adult beverage and pat yourself on the back.
The voltage TO the resistor reads about 12V. The voltage (on high speed) to the motor, from the resistor, reads about 5V. Now 5V TO the motor seems like an odd amount of voltage for the high speed setting?!?!
I ordered another blower motor.....my money ( less than $30.00), is on the motor being DOA.
