Re: Customizing my Front End - New Lights and Grille
Gotta love Ebay. So I bought those black reflector turn signals as pictured a few posts back. I have been waiting three days for the morons to ship them. So today I ask them for an ETA. Their response is:
Oh sorry....the manufacturer discontinued those on Dec. 1st. We can send you the clear ones instead if you like or refund your money.
WTF? I told them they should only be selling items they actually possess. Funny too, the item description said, "just arrived and ready to ship!" Friggin' a-holes.
I'm gonna pick up another set of projector headlights as soon as these fools return my money. If I can make them look like my photochop I will be very pleased.

Ha, Ha, Ha. Reminds Me too! Lol... and x2 on the super brights. Kinda dangerous, selfish & inconsiderate, to blind others just so that you can see better than they can, possibly causing an accident, and maybe even causing their injuries or death.LiftedAWDAstro wrote:Makes me think of this:
Actually it would probably look good since it really wouldn't have an extra composite housing. I also think it would be way too bright. You'll just blind the other drivers especially when raining out.
When I quick-flip my high-beams at people to remind them they forgot to dim - and they just light up their super bright hi-beams back at me & leave them on & laugh, I know exactly what sort of person I'm dealing with.

Indeed, those are valid concerns, noted. Should it present itself in such a manner I feel a simple switch or replacement bulb should do the trick. It almost sounds too easy.

Dont get me wrong, You want super bright hi-beams, go for it, get lazers if you want.
Just that these days it seems like a lot of peoples low beams are super bright. That sucks.
Looks like they will be great out in the dessert night otherwise.

Re: Customizing my Front End - New Lights and Grille
I'm not 100% sure I'm going with the dual set-up just yet, but I ordered them anyway. There's just no easy way to test fit and see what they'll look like without two sets. I currently do not have a turn signal housing on order. I have not found one I like yet.
I anticipate I will be test fitting next weekend. Sucks that I have to pull off the grille guard to do it, that's a PITA. Otherwise it would be sooner.

Re: Customizing my Front End - New Lights and Grille
I really hoped this would not happen but I knew there was a risk. Despite having ordered my second set from the same exact people with the same exact part number I ended up with mismatched turn signal reflector colors. One is silver the other is chrome. These are packaged so well that I can see why they would not take the time to verify the reflector color if you asked them to. Oh well. I suppose I can order a third set and pick some that match.
Anyway, I was worried about the height of the two units together and whether or not I would need to hack off the top of one of the mounts. I measured 12" for the overall height between the bumper fascia and the hood on the front end. It looks like these will fit unmodified without a problem.
I might even find a way to mod the aprons I bought to fit in between:
This project is going to move much slower now that I'm simultaneously working on my roof rack. Between the two projects this one is going to be more difficult since I can't have my front end apart for more than a few hours to test fit and fab.
Re: Customizing my Front End - New Lights and Grille
There also appears to be a difference in the shape of them too.
EDIT: Overall housing shape.

Hmmm. One is tilted at an angle because it has the lights sticking out the back.....I'll have to look closer. I think I'm gonna have to do a best 2 outta 3 now anyway. #-o Or do THREE sets of super duper melt your face off lights!

Nope! Coming soon....like early this summer. It's one of my last major external upgrades. I have all the stuff, just need more daylight.
