Re: Can I drive my Astro Van AWD without the front drive shaft?
I have done this operation and it does roll about 1 foot ither way before the trans locks in I thought it was my transmission going but I guess not. Nothing out the ordinary has happened yet but I do get better millage on a tank of fuel kinda nice.
Re: Can I drive my Astro Van AWD without the front drive sha
Hey All...been super busy since December....
I am driving a 98 AWD Astro....
I am running down To South Cali this weekend....I was wondering if I pulled my Front Driveline if it was going to bugger anything....? Looking to squeeze all the mpg I can for this trip....just over 1000 miles each way.....
I need to Know By tomorrow mid day....Van is in the Shop getting Tuned up for the trip, so It is in the air...
Thanks, John in Oregon.

You should not pull the front shaft. You take the chance of killing the t-case over the course of 2,000 miles. The viscous coupling inside the t-case generates heat when it locks and it would be locked up the entire trip. It would be locked up because it can't detect front wheel speed without the front driveshaft.
