I don't understand your question.
Recently bought a 1989 Astro RS from Florida. Replaced stock engine witha 1997 5.7 vortec with TBI and replaced transmission with rebuilt 700R4 with mild shift kit.
Bought on Monday the 16th of April 2012

If you mean that you don't understand my question it may be because I was replying to the post just before mine with the statement by safari kev "Also, not all gas is the same". I hope that puts it in context.

This just in from an old friend B.P. Richfield

Back in the day of "Dinosaurs", when I was a field boss for the WESAYSO Development Corporation, the only two brands to use were ........... All others were inferior even though there was only one pipeline from the tar pit to the only refinery and one pipe line from there to the only gasoline storage tank. We sometimes put our stick on logos on the few delivery trucks when they went to my stations and removed them when we delivered to the generic places.

Now go out and pay more for these better brands because I have many shares in them and I Say So.

i tend to buy my gas at the local Kroger. It is usually the least expensive in the area (5 to 10 cents cheaper than the Shell station next to it), its pretty busy and I see the delivery truck there quite often so the gas should be pretty fresh. Plus i get 3 cents off on a gallon on regular purchases and 10 cents off a gallon depending on how much grocery shopping I have done in the Kroger store.

also, according to that website, there are no ethanol free gas stations in Houston. I saw quite a few up in Edmund, Midwest City and Oklahoma City when I was up in OK last year.

How do you explain generic fuel storage tanks and pipe lines instead of one each for Exon, Shell, BP and so on delivered in non company tankers to just that brands service station instead of to all of them ?
The first part of your question seems like a stretch to C.Y.A., although I may be wrong on that. Ethanol is made from the liquid in the corn, while animal feed is made from the rest of the kernel.
As for the question you are asking me, I have no idea how it pertains to what I said.

Hey Gary..... Do we even have Shell gas stations in Rochester???? I know I have never been in one. In the past, I generally assumed Kwik-Fill Stations had the cheapest gas. BUT, now that life is controlled by the apps on my smart fone....
"Gas Buddy" gives me the cheapest gas nearest to my current location or in the direction I could travel to get where I am going. Now that I have a hollow Cat, my mileage is up to 15.5 from 14.4mpg ..... NO not braggin..... just saying, I go thru so much gas just getting to civilization (from Wayne county) that I ONLY buy the cheapest gas I can find!

Sorry, to stay on? topic...... I don't care what gas is better! All I care about is price! I will say, that while pumping my cheap gas, I DO cringe when I see the sticker on the pump saying it has Ethanol in it! My understanding is it is totally corrosive in its full 100% state and has to be diluted in gasoline to prevent engine destruction. I further understand that a bunch of petroleum is used in producing it, from powering the tractors growing the corn to processing the ethanol to the point (from what I understand) that there is little petroleum savings in using ethanol...... other than being able to call it a "green" solution to dependence on foreign oil. Ooops.... so much for staying on topic. #-o

So I just took a 2200 mile round trip to South California from Mid Oregon....

I started in Oregon on Shell Premium....Drove thru Oregon with all its Many passes on I-5 Averaging 70-75 mph the whole time....Average mpg was 15.8 over 2 tanks of fuel....then Fuel cost in Cali. was 25-35 cents more pg....so I went to regular....drove the rest of the trip on it as My mpg went up to 16.5 to 16.9 depending on my average speed of 75-90mph.....Yes I was in a Hurry..... :poke:
I uses Shell , Chevron, or Truck stop fuel all thru Cali....

As a Mechanic I did things like tune-up,oil change, and filters pre trip....I drove the van pretty hard the entire time....didn't eat one drop of oil in 2200 miles, and got decent Milage for AWD I thought.....I also put skinny hwy tires on it to helpand was packing Sleep gear plus 2 New Dogs and their new gear coming home....

just my 2 cents...
