Fun? Yeah, right.
The really hinky part of these problems is that I can both hear and feel the bones in my foot grating against each other. Last night in the shower, I heard one more break.

Re: A visit to the Physician
For the last three days, I've been going 'round and 'round with the Workman's Comp insurance company. I think I'm finally making headway.
Yesterday and today, I've been working with a local company for a power wheelchair/scooter and associated lift for the back of the van. These people appear that they can cut through the muck and murk and actually accomplish something.

Re: A visit to the Physician
Hopefully they'll fix it! After the surgery, make SURE you listen to those doctors and rest up! Be sure to take any antibiotics they give you; that could get infected if you don't.

Charcot Arthropathy is a progressive illness with no cure and extremely limited treatments. Bone walls thin and are characterized by micro-fractures. There is no guarantee of permanence to the repair job and full recovery may take 1 - 2 years. External fixators are applied for approximately 7 - 8 months and who knows how long the physical therapy may take.

Re: A visit to the Physician
Dadblamed bureaucrats!
The VA is extremely backed up. I requested a copy of my med records so I can proceed with the Workman's Comp claim. No one told me to indicate that my request was urgent. So, after TWO days of calling and getting nothing but those infernal automated telephone operators and voice mail hell, I finally got a carbon-based life form. She told me that she would get the records out today, which means I'll receive them sometime next month.
Then I called Unemployment Insurance. They're withholding my claim (reduced hours) because I have also filed for WC. WC is dragging their feet, pending me receiving my records from Ft Harrison.
============================
Just got off of a 28 minute (!) phone call with the state of Montana regarding the WC claim and the job. They now have more information than they could possibly use, including the fact that the job has made very few concessions to the performance of my job with regard to my affliction.

Re: A visit to the Physician
Well, the latest visit to the quack provided me with all kinds of good(?) news.
My condition has deteriorated. It has gone from worse to terrible. There are about 4-5 new breaks of which I was completely unaware. The pain meds were increased from 5mg Hydrocodone to 10mg. And the pain waves give me cold sweats and hot flashes.
The motorized scooter has been ordered and should arrive reasonably soon. Now, all I need is a Class III/IV receiver hitch.
