Got control of my DRLs

Post by HPbyStan »

I bent the number 87 prong over in the relay under the dash by the plug in to check the codes. Bent 87A at first but then I still had DRLs but no headlights. Straightened that one out and bent #87 and no more DRLs and the headlights are back. I added some running lights under the bumper in the gen 1 position as I've done on my other Astros that come on with the ignition.

Now if I can figure out how to take control of my power door locks so the ignition and shift lever aren't constantly locking and unlocking doors it'll all be good.

Stan, I found this posted somewhere... Not sure if it works.. But it is definately something programmable, rather than having to physically rewire something.

Begin with ignition off. Pull the multifuction/turn signal lever towards you and hold. Now turn the key on then off 2 times ending at off. Release the lever and the doors should lock and unlock. You are in programming mode and must make your input within 30 seconds. If you exceed 30 seconds the door locks will lock and unlock again, start over. Inputs are as follows:
all doors lock/only driver's door unlocks: press the power lock switch twice on lock and once on unlock
all doors lock/all doors unlock: press the power lock switch once on lock and twice on unlock
all doors lock/ no doors unlock: press the power lock switch once on the lock and three times on the unlock
no doors lock/no doors unlock: press the power lock switch twice on the lock, this disables the auto door lock function

OOPS, did they mention that although it "fixed" the door lock deal, now the DRLs or headlights come on with the ignition again even though the DRL relay is out of the system.. I don't understand all I know about this stuff. :-k
Edit, jeez I'm dumb. It's so overcast the lights should come on. I'm worrying about nothing. Thanks for your link, it is a good one.
