I screwed the internal circuit breaker shut on my maw in law's driver side window motor (she has a 93 safari). That allows it to function pretty good. I did the same to one of the door lock motors on my van. I will do the rest later.

VanGoGo - the grill looks great. Hmmm. Gives me ideas.
Camped at LePage Park and paddled our standup paddleboards a couple of miles up the John Day River. I didn't get any action shots of the Astro but did get some shots of the big horn sheep on the side of the road, I-85 around mile marker 119.

Took a big hammer to the rear wheel wells' forward lip on Grumpy to "roll" the fender. The tire and the wheel wells were getting a little chewed up while off roading.

Grumpy: Cut a bolt to finish removing the Class III hitch receiver, then wire wheeled the uni-frame rails. Hoping to have the missing capture nuts for the hitch receiver replaced within the next week. Having the rear bumper off got me thinking about building a custom, more off road style bumper/hitch receiver.

After dinner I removed the power steering pump. It had been going bad since I bought the van in December 2007 and finally puked its seal last week. Not bad for a the stock pump.

took my van across the river to alton illinois and brought home a $650 1987 chevy silverado as an engine donor for my cadillac. truck has 152k miles on it, and has a ton of rust and a few gallons of bondo on it. half the time I had to turn the wheel a quarter turn right to go straight. for the first 20 minutes, there was faint white smoke coming from the area of the left rear brake (haven't figured out if it was from the brake being locked up slightly or from the engine due to the truck having really old nasty gas in it). oh yeah...and I forgot the worst part of the truck... the transmission was messed up so it wouldnt go faster than 35- 40 mph (depending on whether it was in 1st or 2nd and how bad the trans was slipping)
there are some good things about said truck though. the engine runs really strong and doesnt burn oil (it does have leaking valve cover gaskets though). it also has a new brake booster and AC compressor. and I'll make about $300 back on the truck from scraping the truck and selling the bumpers and brake booster (its new)
heres some pics of the new beast/ engine donor for my cadillac

fuel pump went out on the van. :(
got to drive the 83 lesabre for a week. man thats a fun car to drive around in. its incredibly comfortable (but really needs new tires, because the tires that are on it are almost as old as me)
the motor has also been pulled out of the truck for the cadillac.

disconnecting everything in prep for an engine pull.
Gonna put the nearly new motor into the 87.
Just gotta get underneath and get the exhaust undone tomorrow.
Hope to rip it out and maybe even get the other one in over the long weekend...

I took my new (to me) Astro RS to a car show just to see what people thought and got a few good comments. I also got to meet a lot of great car guys and made a few friends. My 11 year old stepson loved it he seems to really love old trucks. I looked at alot of hood scoop designs and figured out (in my head) how to make mine work without water getting into my engine fuel system, now I just have to do some fabricating and welding.
