Installing a Blazer instrument cluster
When picking parts from a 2000 Blazer, I grabbed the instrument cluster as it has the addition of a tach. I found a pin-out of the Blazer cluster...
I need to find the pin-outs of the 2005 Astro cluster and ECM and BCM if anyone has them. I could register for a 1 year subscription to All Data but if someone had access to them...
Dimension wise I think it'll fit fine. I will pull the dash apart on the van to try it out sometime soon.

Re: Installing a Blazer instrument cluster
Actually sold it and bought parts from another guy. Made about $450 selling the one I got and the parts cost me $200. I will probably be selling the t-case electronics and make part of that back.skippy wrote:So .... you decided to strip the blazer for parts finally huh ?? no luck sellin it ?

Re: Installing a Blazer instrument cluster
I'm following this one closely.
Let us know how things shake out eh?
I am interested to doing the same thing, except with a 1987 that uses a cable speedometer.
I was mostly concerned that the S10 Cluster is actually a slightly different shape and wont just bolt in place easily.

Re: Installing a Blazer instrument cluster
Get the same year S10 cluster as your Astros year. Too many little changes otherwise. Next problem is the S10 wiring comes out the top of the cluster and the Astro out the back and plugs directly into the back of the dash. The S10 cluster while shaped the same won't fit into the dash. First re solder, or get someone to do it for you as I did , the S10 wire plugin to a 90 degrees from stock and keep about 6-8 inches of the S10 wiring to splice into the Astros harness. The lens does curve the other way from the Astro BUT the bolt/screw pattern is the same so you can mix and match and be home free with just an extra trip setting hole as they aren't in the same place. If you still have the 4.3, get a 6cyl automatic cluster from the S10 and if you have a Gen III V8, use a S10 4cylinder automatic cluster as the Gen III uses a tack signal from only one bank. That's all I can remember right now as it was awhile ago that I did that and looked it all up.
I do not know the plan on a Gen 1 Astro as I haven't tried that, sorry.
Good Luck, HP

Re: Installing a Blazer instrument cluster
Do you have any wiring diagrams or pics of the install? I know the connectors go in the clusters in different locations. I was hoping it would be a fairly easy install. Soldering the wires is no problem for me. I still need to see if the stock Astro PCM has a tach signal as that's the real reason for the swap. I quickly looked through the links posted and didn't see a tach signal but not all pins are listed as being used.

Re: Installing a Blazer instrument cluster
I ( think ) the 4.3 tach signal comes off the dist but I don't recall which color wire. I'm old, CRS.
Ihad pics of all that when I put the LS1 in my '98 Astro rwd but I screwed up and deleted a really good source for others to follow. Still mad at myself for that one.

OK Dean.....where's the pictures? You know the rules. I've always wanted a tach. There's no good place for one in the van without it looking a bit tacky. How does the S 10 cluster compare in size and shape? This is something I will probably do.

Re: Installing a Blazer instrument cluster
Won't be any pics until I can get enough time to pull the dash and compare. I started looking through the diagrams TLB posted but I need to sit down and write them out and compare the wires going to my cluster.

Stan, you are old. But I'm older. Just a reminder to keep Dean on his toes. You have to keep an eye on these kids at all times.
