TB-to be honest, the engine installed pix is one of a later model S10.I do think people will get the jest of what I am saying.I know there where guys that had a turbo 4.3 that wasn't a down stream turbo in a Astro.Really you should have a retard system for the ignition on the top end and a rear end gear ratio adjustment for the turbo to take full benefit from it.Also you need to open up the top ring gap because of the amount of heat a turbo puts on it.Turbo's need a good clean oil source too. There is some fabrication involved and work, but the turbo's are easier on the bottom end over a blower or nitrous power adder.

Lots of off roaders in my area build custom buggies.
Many of them are running GM 4.3 on Propane with a Turbo.

I suspect the downstream (under van) turbo set up has some extra lag time ?...

Mr_Roboto was my ref on turbos and I do remember something about down stream turbos having some trade-offs,but I don't remember exactly what they are.As far as lag time,I've seen with V8 turbos guys getting two smaller import turbos off car in pick and pulls(one for each bank of a V8). That way they spool up faster having almost no lag time at all.
