Just got a full tune-up- plugs, wires, cap, air filter and fuel filter. Van runs great now. The mech showed me the plugs and at 146,000 km they were the originals. The gap looked about 3/16ths of an inch and the fuel filter was just about plugged. Except for the cost, I'm a pretty happy guy right now. Now the hunt begins for new tires, cause we leave towing our trailer on vacation in a month. :cheers:

Just put on 4 brand new Kendra 215/70/16 radials and I can't believe how nice the van rides now. I am locked and loaded for our 7 day Elora/ Bruce Peninsula camping trip at the end of September. WooooooooHoooooooo!!! :bounce: :bounce:

I just dropped the van off at the driveline shop by work. I have had an itermittent ABS/Brake light coming on over the summer that I cant figure out.

Hey Blacknome; Somewhere there is an extensive post that says "all intermittent ABS light issues (on these vans and some other GM vehicles) are from broken solder joints in the ABS module". Now take that for what it's worth, but the post had a link to a Youtube video that showed how to fix it and had many testimonials.

Maybe search for it on Youtube, it was very informative. The thread may have been on the other site.

Being its original ( 190000 kms ) with a little play and some noise coupled with an ABS fault at the RF points towards the RF bearing on its way out.
Jims pricing is $300 cdn for the Timken and $583.00 if I want the GM Part. Second line will be $ 150.00 ( unknown manufaturer ).
Gonna do some on-line shopping today and see what I can get a bearing for. He's got the van again today for a trans filter change ( I wish I had a hoist, or a garage for that matter ).

photo_van; I seen that video. If the bearing wasnt making noise or if the code returns I will definately try that.. Thx much !

well its going to be an expensive day for the van. I did some online shopping and the pricing from the US with shipping and taxes was about 10% cheaper but I would have to wait 2-5 days for the parts so I ordered local.

$ 275.00 timken RF Bearing
$ 220.00 Raybestos topline rotors
$ 0.00 pads ( I bought them when I first bought the van 7 years ago but never used them )
$ 0.00 2x idler arms ( Moog warrenty $ 175.00 savings whoot whoot !! )

LOL, I noticed the ABS / Brake light back on again this morning heading into work once I crossed the railroad tracks. Guess I will need to break out the soldering gun and open up the PCM. I am telling myself the $$ spent on the bearing and brakes was " pro-active maintenence ". I got to install the new idler arms as well.
