99 Astro AWD : New to the rig!

Post by 99AstroMod »

As soon as I can afford to, this unpredictable automatic, no low range having transfer crap case is getting swapped out for a 4wd case from an S-10! Also need to replace my completely rusted out non-existent rocker panels with steel tube! And skid plate the bottom! It won't be an offroad rig (I have a heavily built unfinished NissanProject for that!), but a nice snow and tow rig :)

Cool. Gotta post at least one pic...so we know...you're not a spammer, maybe? (I'm not sure why, you just got to)

And maybe a link to the truggy thread.

Welcome welcome.

And anytime "tow rig" is mentioned in an Astro thread, add trans cooler to your build sheet.

Trans-cooler is coming from the K2500 :) I think what I'll be doing is using the whole 4L80E tranny with transfer case from the K2500 :)

How are you going to control the 4L80E? The electronics are going to be different than the 4L60E.
Current rides:
2013 Toyota Tundra DC 4x4
2008 Dodge Nitro 4x4
2005 Nissan Sentra 1.8S Special Edition

Mileage spreadsheet

Vans owned:
1986 Safari 2.5L 4 speed manual - scrapped
1995 Astro 2WD conversion 4.11 posi, shift kit, DHC rock rails - sold to Skippy
1998 Astro 4x4 D44, D60, NP231, full hydraulic system with 9k# Milemarker winch and snow plow - sold to Lockdoc
2003 Astro AWD all stock - traded for a 3/4 ton truck
2005 AWD, 4.10's - sold to skippy
