I have searched the forum and done a general google search with mixed results. I have a 1999 Astro Van LT with no modifications. I am wanting to install a set of General Grabber HTS 235/75R15XL on 7" rims. Will I have problems with the front tires rubbing?
I would not mind a little bit of rubbing on severe bumps and tight cornering. Just looking at the space I have now with the stock tires, I do not believe it would be a big problem.
I will likely buy these unless someone tells me it will be a huge mistake. I had way oversized tires on my 1992 Chrysler Lebaron that did rub on on severe bumps and tight cornering, but there was never a problem and I never wore through the fender liners.

Re: 235/75R15 Tires
I'm almost positive that will rub.
235/75-15 is a 28.9" tire.
I have 245/70-16 (29.5") on my van, and I had to do a pretty decent amount of trimming to avoid rubbing with 3-4" of lift! (2" pucks + maxed stock keys). I still get the occasional touch on a full left lock where I haven't taken enough out of something...
You may not be able to trim enough near the pinch seam, etc. to fit a 29" tire without adding lift.

Re: 235/75R15 Tires
I have 2" Body Blocks and fully cranked torsion bars for about 4" of lift on my Gen 1.
I AM running 235-75-15.
I had been wishing that a Gen 1 would would have less rubs in the front than my Gen 2 had.
Not much diff, they both rubbed 235-75-15s on the front with an identical lift.
Have done some trimming but still get rubs on tight turning and sometimes just from a big bump straight on with the Gen2 i had..
I would NOT recommend buying that size tire without a lift installed.

Re: 235/75R15 Tires
You can get away with 235/70R15's. They still have a nice width for these vans but are not much taller than stock. They won't rub and if they do it'll be very minimal. I ran a set on my old 95 conversion with no lift.
Current rides:

2008 Dodge Nitro 4x4
2005 Nissan Sentra 1.8S Special Edition

Vans owned:

1995 Astro 2WD conversion 4.11 posi, shift kit, DHC rock rails - sold to Skippy
1998 Astro 4x4 D44, D60, NP231, full hydraulic system with 9k# Milemarker winch and snow plow - sold to Lockdoc
2003 Astro AWD all stock - traded for a 3/4 ton truck
2005 AWD, 4.10's - sold to skippy

I'm w/ Lifted. Go with the 70. I have 235/75 on my '97 w/ no lift. I cut and beat hell out of the pinch weld for them to fit.

Re: 235/75R15 Tires
OK, you made me a believer.
I really like the General Grabber HTS, but my retailer does not have it in 235/70R15. Looks like I will have to drop back to 225/70R15, which is almost identical to the stock 215/75R15.
I'll post a photo when installed.
Thanks for all the replies.
