New Owner of Trouble

Post by Chaos »

Hi all,
My name is Nathan and I bought Gabe's van, Trouble. New to the site and to owning an Astro. My username, Chaos, is my trail name. I'm an AT and PCT thru hiker. I don't have much to say about the van at the moment because everything there is to know has already been posted to this site by Gabe. I'm headed to Alaska this summer and will be taking Trouble up there. I'll try to post some pics of my adventures.

Let me be the first to welcome you aboard Nathan. You are one lucky Camper to have snapped up Trouble ! I hope it doesn't Give You any.
It is still just a Chevy after all. I Guess you've heard, we Love pics and only have 1 rule. "6B" - If No Pics, it didn't really happen. Lol...
So that's a solid font axle with coil springs and a 4 link in the front I think eh ?
Show the ol girl some love :) Go Camping. Happy Valentines Day .

Yo folks,
Happy to have Nathan as the new owner. He's already replaced the steering gear box (cuz a seal failed about a thousand miles after a really hard test drive off road) and did a good job. He'll be a learn-as-I-go mechanic... just as I was. I couldnt be happier that Trouble is on his way to death valley, then san diego, then alaska. Cant wait to hear about Nathan's adventures!!

And FYI, its not a 4 link. Its the radius arm setup from the 79' F150 1/2 ton.

I thru-hiked the AT in 2013 and the PCT in 2014. And I've done another bit of work on the van. After replacing the gearbox, I drove around for a bit and noticed the engine overheating. Flex a lite fans weren't kicking on. There are 2 types of temperature sensors for the fans. Ended up switching from the radiator probe to the thread in model. Working much better now.

He should stop by Bellingham on the way home! He's probably driving right by my house.
