People remove windshields all the time. If someone removes it properly I doubt it will get nicked. Personally, I'd demand the labor part of the installation fee back then go have the windshield re-installed somewhere else where they will let you watch the installation. Remember the windshield as actually a structural part of the vehicle and an improperly installed one can be dangerous in an accident.

Not a happy rant. I hope something good will turn out of this. Never go back to this shop.

:bounce: (hopping mad) is what I would be.

File complaint with the BBB, run a small statement in classified, when/if you have time, park in front of or even in their parking lot with the words ANOTHER CRAPPY INSTALLATION PERFORMED AT THIS LOCATION across your windshield.

with enough bad publicity, he might feel the crunch in his bank statement and work out a more satisfying solution for you - either money back, so you can take it somewhere else to have it done right or at least pull it back out, reinstall it correctly at no charge, AND apologize for screwing up the first two times...... Rileysowner wrote:So it doesn't leak. I still don't like it, and want to see if he will do something to make me a happier customer, but most people who I asked said removing the windshield and replacing it properly is likely to nick it and thus cause a crack, so having someone else do it would probably mean getting another windshield, not something I can afford. So I will wait for this one to crack if it ever does.
We used to resell windshields at the wrecking yard I worked at all the time. Hell I was even tasked to remove em sometimes and I had no experience with it and they sold em with a warranty and never had one come back. I never installed em tho the owner actually owned an auto glass company as well and kept an experienced glass guy on staff at the yard to install em. With the amount of butyl used to install em it's easy enough to avoid even touching the glass with the removal tool.

They are structural as well you would be amazed at the difference in force required to crush the A pillars in a non windshield car compared with one that has the windshield in it.

I did notice that this is from may tho so how did it turn out???????
