Maybe find the main power wire to the dash and wire in a switch to cycle the power on and of instead of going to n and key flicking?

ds, you are a mind reader--that's exactly what I intend to do if resoldering the dashboard solder joints doesn't work. But the way things are going, I think I'd be pressing the switch like a madman.
I can see a homebrew dash in my van's future...

Was out driving the van yesterday when the dash went blank...really blank. This time even the temp gauge was gone--first time for that. So I did the Kidhauler trick; tranny to neutral, key off and then right back on. But it didn't work. Immediately cycled the key again and the dash came back on. Whew.
I think it's getting worse. Can't tear into it this weekend, though, 'cause I have to use the van. Looks like it'll be next weekend for the dashboardendectomy.

LOL,,you know I was just digging around here tryinig to do a little catching up and what do I find but another person who has blamed me for yet another "Money Pit" idea.
Yes, it IS Larry's fault that I'm thinking about aftermarket analog gauges...... He knows that I'm a freak for automotive instruments. THEREFORE: It's all his fault. I rest my case!

Now Rob,,I thought you and I were friends but friends don't blame friends for things like this.lol Do they ?lol

So what did you do,,haven't finished the thread yet,,,,and may not. Only kidding Rob.[/quote]

Actually, Larry, with the coming of really warm weather, the dashboard hasn't acted up at all for about a month now. So it's been real easy to forget about looking into it.

'Course, now that I went and posted something like the above, that dash will go wild on me. I swear the van knows what I'm thinking.
