i know it started in 1996 in the sport models of the camaro and firebird not sure when it stopped

Matt, thanks for reposting that video.
I agree that the G80 really is a well thought out device. But it does seem to use clutches to facilitate "locking".
I found a number of references on a Chevy Truck forum about the G80 not working, but never any reference to why not.
The Tru-Track looks to be more sound in materials and design.
I really only want to have the rear end apart once.

No, I never did. I replaced it with a Truetrac.

How do you like the TruTrack? I'm considering putting one of those in the front and rear, along with 4:10s.

I haven't had much time to test it yet. I can say without the front end engaged, it likes to go sideways upon acceleration in the snow...
