Got it skip.Actually I bookmarked it.Oh,the one thing it didn't say it it is best to have GM screw in rocker studs installed.You have to be careful which screw in studs you use because with some with push rod guides they jam up.And when swapping to Vortecs you have to use the vortec intake as stated in the link,but you also have to use the shorter push rods too or the proper length to any cut made on the heads.They talk about cutting down the heads,but don't say anything about adjusting the push rod length.And when going for a larger lift,you have to machine the heads for the springs needed and guide clearances.

Very good read overall but no info on V6 heads.
Recently bought a 1989 Astro RS from Florida. Replaced stock engine witha 1997 5.7 vortec with TBI and replaced transmission with rebuilt 700R4 with mild shift kit.
Bought on Monday the 16th of April 2012
