one thing of note for future DIY's. You don't need to bother with top dead center (TDC) when removing the distributor as it is a fixed bracket (distributor can only be installed in one position). Just mark where the rotor is pointing on the distributor with a felt pen (mark #1). Because the drive gear is cut at an angle, the rotor will turn ~20-30° as you pull the distributor up. No worries. I marked the position it ended up it as well (mark #2). This allowed me to play with the distributor all I wanted as long as I put the rotor back in position (mark 2) before re-installing. This secondary mark came in handy as I was installing as I bumped the rotor on several things as I wiggled the distributor into position. I could see that the rotor had moved and just aligned it to the mark 2 before seating the distributor. As seated, the rotor will rotate and should then line up with mark #1.
