Almost 700 miles one way. Cost to come get them makes it unrealistic.
I may ask him to get a shipping quote.

I gotta chime in here.... I have the factory 4.10's, and am running 245/60-15's, 26.5" diameter tires.... and I love them!!
The .70 gearing make the engine RPM livable, but in addition to a trans cooler, I have to say with a short gear you must replace the kick-down valve in the 700R4! (GM did this with the cop cars & the Corvettes that were equipped with the 700R4 trans), With the sissy factory valve, the trans tends to 'kick-down' at 1/2 - 2/3 throttle which really winds the 4.3 to the moon at 60mph (100km/h) and above with a short gear. This little bugger from B&M holds the trans in it's current gear unless you just about floorboard it, then the trans will downshift. This allows running at extra-legal freeway speeds without the trans 'hunting' up and down in the D/OD arena. The B&M part is a bit cheaper than the GM part, and you do not have to stand at the parts counter while some pimple-faced kid try's to understand what you are shopping for. Summit (part # BMM-70237) has them for about $40USD.
Make sure your TV cable is adjusted correctly also. While you have the pan off, now's a good time to put a drain plug in there also!
