missed it all, i was away for the weekend.

hacks are the reason i switched from phpbb over to SMF for the site software. my dodge dakota/durango website was the victim of hacking at least 4 times. twice losing so much that it couldn't be restored from backup and once needed to be rebuilt from scratch, the 2nd time was the last straw and the switch was made to SMF. needless to say that it had a serious impact on membership. phpbb seems to be easier to hack, or more try. chances of hacks being successful are much greater if the board software version is not completely up to date with new releases and backups made VERY regularly. i was able to use the most current backup of the database to covert to SMF, only losing about two weeks of posts and some minor forum formatting changes. i'm not saying we should switch, don't take it the wrong way. i'm just saying this was the outcome with my personal experience.

hacks aren't to be confused with spam bots which create fake member names and post random garbage posts throughout the forums. you can usually stop the bots by banning the member name and IP address.

in answer to the question of 'why a little van site?' .... the answer is: "because they can" & bragging rights amongst the hacker community i'd imagine.

We have to use a proxy server to get onto the forum......................Also says forum is down for maintenance. I know when AS was down we had to use a proxy server too. I certainly am glad Dow is on top of this and hopefully it will all get figured out.

Firecakes, all I can suggest is clearing out your cache and maybe the cookies for ASV.com. That might help.

I automatically do that when I exit Fire Fox. Not sure what exactly is going on.
