Sorry, It's Christmas time, I have four kids, a wife, literally 18 people will be staying at my house for a week! :-s (from Buffalo, Rochester (Gary's stomping ground) Canandaigua, Penn Yan and Stanley, NY)

I have to go to work or the Library to get on the net as I have dial up! :butthead:

I plan on using the new ECM from http://www.dynamicefi.com/TBI_Fueling.php and yes I will need to either reprogram the PCM I have for the Tranny ( as Dynamicefi will run the engine with heads up display) This thing that Peter has looks great but I might have to settle for a lesser model of stumble through the stock PCM programming.

Heads- Still haven't made up my mind. For the price the Pro comp's still are enticing me. I know, I know, you get what you pay for.... But this engine building is an expensive process and I am itching to hear this motor run. I will be looking on Craigs and Expensive-Bay for used in the meantime for a name brand.

You guys are super and I'm happy to see your enthusiasm for my project!

Hey, most are flying in but the ones from Buffallo are leaving early on the 30th. Should I call to schedule you a seat? There's not much difference between 18 and 19... :guitar:

Got the crank in and everything clearanced. I tool the time to check everything out good. Journal to rod, rod to cam, rod to pan rail, rod to bore and piston to crank clearances. I don't know if it was the scat kit and the 1999 model 350 block but everything went together like it should the first time without anything hitting. I wanted at least .050 clearance for everything and the bore was about .030 close to the rods so I removed the crank and did a small amount of grinding. One thing to note for those that want to do a 383- with the timing chain off the rod will touch the cam lobes at just the right position. When it is timed everything is ok. What this means is if the timing chain were to break, the cam lobes could get beat on at higher RPM's.

I had the spiral type piston pin retainers for the first time. What the heck is up with them? Is there a trick to installing them? It took me 1/2 hour to install two?

I will have pictures of the nice shinny engine posted on the link below sometime this week.

I really can't do anything else until I get $$ for the heads. Is there a procedure for timing the cam without the heads. It is a roller Hydr cam. I tried this measuring the lift of of the lifter and was not successful....

You should be able to time off from the lifter. To get valve lift you need to factor in the 1.5, or whatever, rocker ratio.

So what you are saying is at 1.5 ratio I should be getting .25" lift at the lifter?

Just noticed the drawing and wanted to mention if there's anyone out there who plans to trash computer and run a carb on a V-8 swap/700r, if you'll look at the TCC section you'll notice the LT Blue and Tan/Black wires, these are the ones that are spliced together to allow lockup to work properly without ECM.

Now it is starting to shape up! Isn't it fun building engines with all those fancy new parts! That new crank sure makes it a lot easier (and better) to build a stroker engine than using an old 400 crank (if you had the old style block). Take your time so you know that everything is setup the way you want. Good luck with your engine build up!
