I would like to put in a 2nd battery so I can run a 12v-110v converter or 12v cooking stuff.

it would have a heavy duty relay so it does not drain the main battery,

But where to mount it ?

Is there anywhere under the floor where I could build a "drop box" to store the battery in ?

or under the front seats ?

Ohh I may want to hook up a 12v winch INSIDE the van to pull heavy stuff into the back ( core motors to rebuild) , but thats another days question ?

Thanks for any ideas....or a 2x4 with my name on it if I do the wrong thing !

West Marine sells an Automatic Charging Relay, ACR, which allows you to charge 2 separate batteries, e.g. Starter battery and House battery, independently without the 0.6 Volt drop of a diode based battery isolator.

There are a lot of places that you can mount an extra battery. If you are going to build a mount for it under the van just have to get under there and look to see where you can put whatever size battery bank you have decided on.
