Long time issue, please help

Post by macsveen »

To whom it may concern,

I would like to repair or sell/trade my van.

I have an electrical issue affecting turn signals, wipers, dash lights and intermittent rough engine operation.

My beast is a well cared for 1986 Safari V6 with 350,000 miles.

Any advise would be much appreciated.

Sounds like bad chassis ground wire connections.
Clean metal around all ground wires and studs and check for rust, loose nuts, loose crimps, corroded ground splices. Etc. I think one main ground is on drivers side under the hood near battery and headlights.

yup the battery chasis ground is a cheap 14 guage wire & they either break or get rusty on the terminal on the van . I think Zam has a write up here on upgrading the grounds .
make sure & clean up your battery terminals & the ground connection on the Alt bracket too .
YOU ONLY NEED TWO TOOLS IN LIFE - WD-40 AND DUCT TAPE. IF IT DOESN'T MOVE AND SHOULD, USE THE WD-40. IF IT SHOULDN'T MOVE AND DOES, USE THE DUCT TAPE.
