Reason 2001 Astro heavy discharge with cranked wheels found!

Post by 2002_4L60E »

Others on this forum have suggested that the control arms next to the starter cable cause rubbing. The old retrobate had his van in the shop a few times, and the mechanics looked it over, but could not come up with the reason the battery would be totally drained when the wheel was cranked to the left (our driveway bends left, and it drained out one day). Sorry, quota exceeded. Can't post.

BUT... I was under the van checking the cause of the overflow bottle being dry (no leaks, I bet the radiator cap is blowing) and I looked at the starter cable where it bends back to reach the starter... Best part is the nut for the control arm points directly at the cable. No foolin'.

I have to crawl under to install new oil coolant lines anyway.
