P0016 code issues

Post by SteveTR6 »

A few weeks ago, my van threw a P0016 code -- camshaft position - crankshaft position sensor correlation Bank 1 Sensor A.
Van is a 2003 AWD LT, 168,000 miles. It continued to run just fine with the check engine light on and after I reset it. Light came back on almost immediately, but van kept running fine.
I decided that with the mileage on the van rather than try and guess which sensor was bad to replace both. I put 2 new sensors on it, reset the code, and ever since then it runs very rough on cold start --as if it's running on 4-5 cylinders. It will throw a P0300 random misfire code as well. Once warmed up, it runs OK but still gets a nasty misfire at 1800-2200 rpm. Almost feels like the trans slips when it does this. I've reset the P0016 code with the OBD tool, and also did a hard reset (disconnect both battery cables, touch them together for 30 seconds) and it has made no difference.
I'm about to try putting the old sensors back. At least it ran mostly right then.
And ideas what could be causing this problem?
Thanks
Steve

Hi,

Interesting. My 2003 AWD has 131,000 miles and I have not had that issue yet.

Sometimes on steep hills like going from Bakersfield to Lake Isabella area, I would get mis fire codes when I tried to drive high speed up hill for long stretches.

Does your code reader have the feature that displays the actual parameters while you drive such as TPS, % MAP, O2 sensors, etc. Perhaps leve code reader connected as you drive and have friend ride along and record parameters with the new sensors. Then repeat process if you re install old sensors.

Do you think it could be intermitantly wiring harness connector?

Good luck.
