Hi, new member here and I was wondering if a 226 GM case would work on my 2000 Astro, I just scored one for cheap along with the switches and controller?
Thanks
Can I use a 226 transfer case

Re: Can I use a 226 transfer case
The 226 was used in the Envoy and Trailblazers which both used the 4l60e tranny I believe. As far as I know it hasn’t been done in an ASV swap. Three things come to mind when looking to try this. First will be the driveshafts. Second time I’ll be mounting to the transmission. Will it bolt up or is there an adapter plate. Thirdly will be the electronics. The 236 swap was easy because of the shared parts with the S-10’s which ran the 4.3?and the 4l60e.
Please feel free to look into this and let us know what you find. Someone was the first to do the 236 swap wink wink so give it a look

Thanks, after doing some measurements on it, it looks like the front output shaft is about 3/4" further out from center line then the 136 so I will be retaking it back to the you pull it for a refund. I will be keeping my eye out for a 233 of maybe just make the 136 a manual shift if it's possible.

Hi,
You should also look for a np-231 C, manual shift t case from older s10 blazer or s10 truck.
The OEM manual linkage in s10 is not easy to adapt to Astro, so...
Then get a manual floor shifter linkage from JB designs in Oregon.
The Jeep guys often use the np 231 manual t case , and that is why a place like JB designs has the manual cable actuated shift lever kit for about $200.
That is what I have in my 2003 Chevy Astro.

Thanks, I will keep a look out for one, as soon as it dries out a little.
