Astro RS $200

Post by stephanie »

I've been notified of a Astro RS that is for sale for $200 or it's going to be crushed. It has always been my dream to buy a RS stro and I am soooooo tempted to grab it. The catch is it's not running, the interear and exterear needs work. I have personally looked at it and the engine. The oil is good so me and Sanja are pritty sure it is a electrical or fuel problem. It has low miles on it. My problem is I don't have a place to store it ](*,) . I don't want to see this van go to the crusher so if anyone is looking to buy a RS heres the chance!! It doesn't have much time before they get rid of it.

OK, what's the story on it "not running?" Does it crank? Does it not crank? Have you checked for fuel? It may be something that's fixable where it sits.

Contact your friends, have them contact their friends. Storage is available somewhere.

Then get it running and join me on the BA/BE Rally.

Hey stephanie, you should get Firefox. It has a built in spell checker and would have caught your spelling errors before Gnarli could.

Interior; #-o sorry, If you notice on what time it was when I posted it... I wasn't able to try and start it, didn't have the keys. It's at a mechanics shop, and all the guy did was put in a new starter. I don't know anything else about it though. Its just bad timeing for me. If the guy is willing to let it sit there for a longer time, then I could probably do it. But the money I would put into this van I could be putting into my van.

The good news is it's been spared from the crusher.
The bad news is the engine is boned.
No big deal,Its going to get another 6 put into it.
I hear there is a RS in pick a part.
So Steph & I may run over there tomorrow.

Even if the poor girl gets stripped for parts, IMO there's 200 there easily by the time you consider the sway bars, the high ratio steering box and so on. Don't forget that you need to change PROMs if you get a "Z" VIN engine for it, the motor in that is/was the HO 4.3L which has a stouter camshaft.

Y'know Sanj, that RS would look pretty nice with my 350, custom 3" Magnaflow exhaust, Hedmann headers, 8" American Racing wheels and General Grabber tires, Autometer gauges, flexilite clutch fan, belltech rear sway bar, belltech flip kit, corvette servo, K&N air filter, G80 3.73 rearend with 11" brakes, and custom chip...

Just a thought... :yawinkle:

Hey Sanj let me know if you need a hand with the motor swap or even pulling one out at Pick a part. We could drag my utility trailer to the wreckers to drop the engine in on the way home.

For $200 how far wrong can you go. What year is the Van???
1999 Safari Touring edition.
trailer tow pack with a 3:73 posi
Bucket bench seats, Rear heat, Rear Airconditioning.
teal green
300 000 kms
AirRide air bags in the rear to fix soft stock suspension.
Onboard aircompressor to make it all work nice.
