A few months ago, I had to have my alternator replaced because the diode on the voltage regulator went WAAAAAY south. Fortunately, it was under warranty. Unfortunately, the work was done in Nashville. Anywho, when it was replaced, the mechanic(?) removed the dipstick in order to have better access. And, in the process, he also knocked loose several vacuum lines. Well, I fixed the vacuum lines, but still hadn't noticed that the dipstick was missing! That's right, GONE! Klementine doesn't drink oil, so it wasn't noticed right away. Well, the other day, I noticed oil on the pavement! So, naturally, I wanted to check the oil level. THAT'S when I discovered the missing dipstick.

So, I went back to the shop. No soap. They couldn't find the missing part. So, being the good people they are, they ordered me a new one, scheduled to arrive today.

Now comes the funny part. It didn't arrive because the truck BLEW OVER outside of Casper! Yep, they have high winds.

Captain, I hope you get your dipstick soon. I am amazed you didn't notice it gone until now.
In days of yore when my babies were still babies I went out one day to start my %#@* Dodge Caravan. It wouldn't start. I checked my oil & it was WHITE!! Ever since then I make sure to check my oil every couple weeks.

Picked up the missing part at the stealership yesterday. It's not called a dipstick(!). It's an Indicator Assembly and goes for (steady yourself) $21!!!! The mechanic paid for it.
