codes read ?????
how do i retrieve the codes on a 96 astro . this is the first obdII system that i have ever dealt with , so i'll probably have a ton of questions concerning this motor .
YOU ONLY NEED TWO TOOLS IN LIFE - WD-40 AND DUCT TAPE. IF IT DOESN'T MOVE AND SHOULD, USE THE WD-40. IF IT SHOULDN'T MOVE AND DOES, USE THE DUCT TAPE.
DAILY THOUGHT:
SOME PEOPLE ARE LIKE SLINKIES - NOT REALLY GOOD FOR ANYTHING BUT THEY BRING A SMILE TO YOUR FACE WHEN PUSHED DOWN THE STAIRS.

Gonna need a code reader that plugs into the OBD 2 socket under the dash. Turn the ignition on / engine off and read the codes on the scanner.

Most chain auto parts stores will read the codes for you.
I received my ScanGaugeII today, it reads your codes, functions as a trip computer and as digital gauges. I'm finding it rather nifty so far. It's currently plugged into Eugene as we get ready for our off-roading trip to TN.
