Can't get in the back door !#*%$*@*@#*@#*$(%(#%)

I was just in this thing this afternoon and now I can't get in. It unlocks/locks, when I pull the handle out, I can feel it trying to push on the litttle lever in there, but it will not open. I'm about ready to get the angle grinder out and open it permanently !!!! I'm not sure if I can get door panel off from inside either.. GGGRRRRR!!!!
Any ideas???? Oh, barn doors.

The rod that pulls the lever is bent. You will have to remove the panel to be able to access the rod. I would straighten it out, then several months later it would just bend again. I had the bodyshop weld mine on to the lever so I wouldn't continue to have that problem. Step back and take a breather. Would hate to hear you did something to your ride that you'll regret later.

Also you may want to try pushing in on the door as you pull the handle.

Trybe has a conversion van like one of mine which makes getting at the linkage easy but you are going to have a heck of a time since the plastic goes under the door when closed. I had to do it once and I finally got at it but had to do a bit of mending to the trim when done. Just don't get too pissed and destroy the trim.

I'm with Trybe on this one, step back, take a deep breath, count to 100 using only odd number :D now that you are all calmed down about the door (and annoyed because you can't count to 100 using odd numbers) work at getting the interior panel off the door.

Really?! I didn't know it was different in non conversion vans. One of the advantages of owning several different models!

The conversion vans are basically cargo vans. The conversion company usaully just adds carpet, ect to the steel access panel on the rear doors. Passenger models have the rear doors covered just like the front doors. Try taking off a front door panel with the door closed and you will know what Blazer is going through. A real PITA!

Well I guess it must be another conversion advantage(?) because I can remove my front door panel with the door closed. I checked on it for Rebel just recently, but can't remember why.

or just try
pushing the door in while pulling the handle, then when the handle is pulled all the way out, pull the door open. i do that with mine since it wont just open if u grab the handle and pull...

If your door is totaly stuck and will not open you need to go to the inside and pop off the speaker cover and unbolt the speaker. You might need a drill to get the speaker screws out as they just have a bolt on the back and it will spin but a drill should be fast enough to unscrew the nut off the end.

Once the speaker is loose slide it up and out of the way and reach throught the hole till you feel the rod inside and pull up and it should pop the door open. You might need to get someone with a smaller arm as it is a little tight to reach over the licence plate holder to grab the rod. My wife had to do my door when it broke. This will save you from destroying your inside door panel.

When you have the door apart tie a peice of 20lb fishing line to the top of the rod and run it up through the door panel so the next time the handle breaks you only need to pull on the cord to open the door.

Hope this helps

I think that I am going to make a new thread on how to open the rear door when the handle breaks so we can make it a sticky as this question came up dozens of times on the AS board.
