Swivel Bases from an early astro conversion van - Skippy?

Skippy, you mentioned this in another thread and my ears perked. I always wanted to swivel the passenger seat 180°. On road trips, it would be nice to face the back seats while driving to play games, have lunch, etc. I wasn't aware of any bases that allowed this, let alone actually from an Astro. Can you (or anyone else) provide some information on them please?

Good post LaGrasta. Its on my list as well.

Is it just a base that attatches to existing seat or is an entire seat?

I don't remember what conversion company it was (starcraft i believe) but i gutted an early 87 or 88 astro conversion van & it had 2 swivel bases up front & the 2 captains chairs in the middle were on a 4' long plate with 2 swivels welded on to that & the plate was bolted through the floor .

no , its a seperate base , the base bolts to the floor like a standard base does then the seat bolts to the base .

I'll Google "starcraft" when I get some time later and see what I can come up with. Thanks!

A few years ago when I was building my 64 Chevy van, I found the swivels for seats at your local boat shops, I was fortunate to be close to Bass Pro in Springfield, MO, I also think you might luck out at an RV accessories show room.

If your still looking.... got a couple across the street from me in an RV, bases still bolted in place, I took the passenger captains seat for possible use in my 94 awd (someday tobe camper van... mobile shed at this point, filled to ALMOST capacity)

you can find them at nearly any junk yard, rear bucket seats are usually swivel, or at least most of them I looked at have been....

how does the seat tracks and seat belts work within a swivel configuration?

BTW, I grew up in NE Ohio too, Youngstown.

on the swivels i had the seat tracks are bolted to the seats & the seat belts are bolted to the rear of the swivel basses .

on a side note , if Lagrasta doesn't want these bases , i will take them , just let me know how much . when i sold my 92 astro i let my bases go with that van & i've been sorry i did it ever sence.

looks like I'm going to my local U-Pull-It this weekend and look for some swivel bases.

Do you think swivel bases out of Ford Econoline vans would work?

just measure the bolts on the floor to make sure they're the same . the seat bolts can allways be changed if needed .

I still have a set of bases that I got from an Astro conversion van that I stripped for parts. The steel plate that bolts them to the floor comes with them.

I'm going to pass on these. Although I am so tempted. The honest truth is under both seats are my amplifiers and I really don't want to deal with moving it. Thank you so much for the information. If I ever do decide to try it, i'll hit the local junk yard and start checking those captain chairs!

Any idea what you want for one, Joe?

It will motivate me to check my local yards, if I can't find any, or your price plus shipping is better?...

a base plate bolts through the floor and relining bucket seat with slides and seat belts rides on a round bearing plate with notches in it to lock in place until you pull a handle, allowing it to swivel
