anyone ever change from hydroboost to vacume assist?

Post by dj_joker_2002 »

since a new hydroboost is $600.00 how hard would it be to do away with the hydro unit and install a regular vacume assist system from a salvage yard?

I don't know anyone personally. It could be done but it's a step backward. Hydroboost is much better.

I agree hydroboost is where it's at! I would try to get the stock system working long before trying to fit an inferior vacuum boost system.

if your gonna use a salvage yard vacuum unit... why not consider a salvage hydroboost system as well? Im sure one could be had pretty cheap. Definetly a step backwards to go vacuum anyway

Don't know where you got that $600 price, but here are some prices I've found.

AutoZone.com: Cardone reman $395.99, core $112.00, end 283.99
RockAuto.com: A1 Cardone reman $279.79, core $35.00, end $244.79
PartsAmerica.com: Cardone reman $314.44, core $50.00, end $264.44

You can also check this eBay ad for $125. It lists for Astros '96-2000, but my research shows that the boosters are the same '96-2002.
