QUICK TIP – I didn't know you were changing lanes!
The addition of side mounted turn signals is a great safety feature. If there is a car next to us while we're trying to change lanes, it would greatly enhance our lane changing intentions. I merely purchased a set of after market $15 motorcycle turn signals available in many different sizes and shapes.
I mounted one under each side mirror and tapped into the front turn signal wires just a short distance forward. Being located under the mirror allows me to see them flash, but does not blind me like some after market styles might. The lights reflects off the entire side of the van when in use. Make no mistake, "I"m about to change lanes!"

Re: QUICK TIP – I didn't know you were changing lanes!
I've thought about rigging up some amber LEDs behind the mirror and having them glow around it's edges.
Yet another project for me to not get too.

Re: QUICK TIP – I didn't know you were changing lanes!
Very good idea. I cut socket holes in the little reflectors on the sides of my front bumper cover. Installed the small dash light type sockets and bulbs, wired them to the turn signals and PRESTO........side marker lights and signals.

Re: QUICK TIP – I didn't know you were changing lanes!
looks better than i would have expected, works nice to im sure, good idea!! remember they only work when you use them though, im sure you are not one of those people, but man i hate people who think they are too good or too fast or whatever their excuse for not using turn signals is. every time someone cuts me off with out a signal i wish i had an old beater caprice with a big block or something real long with a nice soild front bumber you know, may not be the most mature way of doing things but i would floor it and slam into them anyway i could and just play it off like i had no clue they were turning. there goes their nice BMW or whatever that i know come equipped with turn signals!
