detached vacuum line: 5.7L vortec

So...I've got similar probs to everyone regarding the blower coming on here and there with some air coming out of the defrost. I've found about two feet of vacuum hose coming up from the black ball on the passenger side. I'm assuming I need to take the dog house off and get a new line and attach it back there somewhere, but I need to know if its still attaches back there since I've got a 5.7.

Anyone know? Chevy wants to charge $120 just to diagnose the problem...those highway robbers.
