All,
I saw a post on another forum asking which fuel pump to get for a 2002 Astro, one with or without a "Robust Fuel System".
What in the world is a "Robust Fuel System"?

Re: Robust Fuel system?
I think maybe they were asking about a more robust fuel system.
Board consensus says the Dephi/ACDelco are the pumps to get and to change fuel filters every 20K miles.
I've replaced the pumps on both my vans recently. Green received a Delphi from http://store.getgmparts.com/ and Grumpy got a $30 rebuild kit from Global Auto on eBay. Both had new Fram fuel filters installed with the replacements. They both start and run quite well with their new pumps.

Re: Robust Fuel system?
from what i've heard it has something to do with the seals in the fuel system redesigned o-rings on the sending unit i think i'm going to go google it and see what it says about it
edit: this is the only thing i've seen about it looks like you have to pay to see the entire article

Development of a robust fuel circuit sealing system: Defining the problem
Manfred Achenbacha,
aParker Hannifin GmbH, Bietigheim-Bissingen, Germany
Available online 10 July 2007.
The emission of fuel vapour from gasoline powered vehicles through the hoses and seals is a major contributor to overall hydrocarbon emissions. The reduction of emissions from the seals requires a consideration of the seal design and material to achieve the best overall results. This feature describes an investigation of a typical current O-ring design by a combination of experiments and computer modeling. The results of this investigation have led to the development of a new seal in a low permeation material, which will be the subject of a further feature in the August issue of Sealing Technology.

Re: Robust Fuel system?
I think in this context the robust is referring to the level sender , which is probably made of gold alloy to survive in all the nasty fuels out there now.

Re: Robust Fuel system?
This was referenced at some parts site the guy was looking at. I had w/Robust and w/o Robust....
It would be like w/AC or w/o AC.
Pretty weird. I had never heard of such a thing.

Re: Robust Fuel system?
I believe this is for countries with Leaded fuel. I dont have a service manual handy as I am away in Toronto on a work seminar. But there is a code in the front that lists this, I think it starts with N or a Y?
