It's a Jeep M-679 (M-678 has windows), less than a couple hundred made for U.S. Military.

Jeep - now there is a topic I know - probably has the hurricane 4 cylinder for a power plant - tranny probably a 3 speed T90 or T86. It could have actually been produced by Ford (oh the f word.... but these were good Fords - M38 etc) - but all the same goodies as a Willy's... in the war they actually said screw copywrite/patent lets get the job done - and they did! Don't forget Bantam was also involved in the jeep story...

Guess I was wrong - 3 cylinder diesel... got the tranny right

Correct me if I am wrong-but the history of Jeep almost was owned by everyone at one time or another.Could this one be during the time F..d owned it??.

Ford never "owned" Willy's - the problem was - Willy/Bantam created a vehicle that met the US military's specs. but could not produce enough of them - hence Ford was allowed to produce them also under some sort of war act- but I have to admit Ford's later vans sure looks like siblings of this Forward Control Jeep

According to my research, these were never made by Ford. I'll post more info about them later.

Somebody really needs to make reproduction kits for them. A rebody kit for the LJ would probably be the best bet.

cool van, reminds me of the early chevy vans.

and a rebody for astros would be nice, since they're not being manufactured anymore.

would like to see a rebody kit for Chevy/Geo/Susuki Tracker/vitara as well

plenty out there for Jeeps, Volks Wagons, Mustangs and even some Pickups, but nothing for Vans or the Tracker

found one for the Susuki in the UK thats not being produced anymore and a couple others in the US that might could be modified to fit.

Havn't looked for anything for vans, but havn't ever heard of them either.... worth looking into
