How do I connect my mp3?

Post by 6spd_monte »

I have a Sony CDX-CA710X head unit, I know it's a little old but I think it can still be done.
The Sony can be set up to interface with a CD changer, so I figure I just have to trick it into thinking that my Zune is a changer, right?

After reading the information at Sony's support site I believe I need something to plug into the BUS audio input ports and the BUS control port. The other end of the cable(s) will only need to connect to the headphones jack on the Zune.

I have asked around at some car audio stores but no one seems to be able to tell me where to find what I need.

Does anyone here have the answer?

I think you would need a cable similar to this one.

dean89,
That cable looks like what I need on the Sony end, but what does the white 22 pin connector plug into?

mattblackratbus,
I tried a cable exactly like that one before. The Zune recognized that it was connected to something and it started playing, but the Sony didn't see it as an audio source so no sound came over the speakers.

However after looking at what you guys suggested, I learned the term "Sony Unilink" and I was able to do some more searching and I found this on eBay:

I think this will force the Sony to recognize the Zune when it is connected to the RCA ports using the cable that mattblackratbus suggested.

What do you think?
