So, i'm looking at my shorty van and have been thinking about lowering it. but as I look at it, the front is already much lower looking. So if I could just drop the back to match the front, that would be enough.

I know that they made drop shackles for my old 88 Chevy pickup that would drop the rear 2 inches to make th truck sit level..do they make anything like that for the Astros? Or is a flip kit the only way?

JC Whitney sells the shackles that I would have used on my truck, but they dont have anything listed for Astro/Safari vans.. ](*,)

The fullsize trucks can use drop shackles because the spring eyes sit above the main frame mount. i.e., look at your astro set up, then flip it up and on top of the frame mount. So like the "longer" Overlands 3" shackle which jack our vans up, the "longer"drop shackles on the fullsizes actually lower as the move the spring eyes up toward the bed.

in other words .. a flip is the only way to bring it down if you have composite leafs

if you have steel, you can have them dearched by a spring shop.

or.. i think some guys on here have done a composite to steel swap, then have them dearched before install. (might be a cheaper lowering job than a flip kit as most of what you'll need you can find at a wrecker).

I'm personally not sure what is all involved with the composite to steel swap though.. may not be worth the effort vs. the cost of a flip kit.
