Astro scale R/C rock crawler

Post by reaper »

Some of you know that I play with anything radio control.
Here's the latest edition,a astro van scale rock crawler.
It's still in final body trim stage,& mount it to the chassis.
It will have working headlight/tailights.

Where'd you get that body from? Is it hard plastic or polycarbonate? Cool project!

About what scale is that body?

I've been thinking about building an R/C Rock Crawler and I was either going to go with a Super Duty, Classic Bronco or a Unimog. But I hadn't even considered a Safari! \:D/

It must be pretty rare. I just spent 20 minutes trying to find one on the net and I only found this video on You-tube:

They have not made those vans in about 3-4 years so there isn't many left. I still think you should leave the sound system in sanj.

the vans are very rare,& I dwindled for 2 days on weather I should cut it up or not.
Luckily a few years ago I aqquired 5 of the radio shack vans new in box.I sold 3 of them,
& kept 2.Scale size is just over 1:18th.For now I am using the body on a Losi
mini crawler,So I have to keep weight down,so the stereo is Out.Later on I may scratch
build a chassis & vacu form a lexan astro body & install the stereo.

It's 4wd,locked front/back diffs,& has rear steer,so I can crabwalk it.
It is electric, using a centre gearbox reduction & twin slider driveshafts.
I power it with a 650mah lipoly battery.
