Racecraft mounts

Post by Smiliesafari »

I just purchased a pair of Racecraft 2wd engine mounts. The spacing between the legs is not the same. Is that correct? I always thought the frame mounts were the same for both sides. \:D/

I found pics on Lockdoc's pb account... These are the 2WD ones. According to the pic they should be the same but mirrored.

Thanks, guys. Gary...Your mounts are different than mine. And we did miss you. Welcome back.
Jakepatch...That clears it up. These must be for a AWD. I'll just have to make a small mod.
The mounts I have are like the drawings that Dean posted.
Thanks again. I can always count on you guys. \:D/

Re: Racecraft mounts

While I was at the shop today I did some checking. It seems that the mount with the narrow spacing fits the V6 frame mount and the other one fits the V8 frame mount. The guy that I bought these from said that he had them mounted on a 6.2 diesel and had the engine and trans mounted in an Astro sub-frame. Well, he had some serious health issues and had to abandon the project. He sold everything except a few odds and ends. He may have had these built to his specs or maybe that's the way the 6.2 is setup. I think using the V8 frame mounts is a good idea. They are bigger. I'm starting to collect parts and pieces for the V8 swap. I'm in no hurry though. The 4.3 is still running great. Any thoughts on putting the CPI on a 305? I have a real nice 305 roller out of a 88 Camaro. I feel certain the ECU in the Safari will run the V8.
Jake...Thanks for the pics. These mounts are definitly 2WD. \:D/

Skip,
The pic'ed mounts I posted I might end up using, but the donor Astro van I got my V8 from has a set too which are RWD mounts.I won't need both sets,so after I try fit the pic'ed ones,I would sell you what ever set I will not use for what I paid for them.I'll pm you once I figure which set is going to end up being the spair set.
