Those vans look great in the photos. What year are they?

I know Japan has strict laws about cars needing to be in good mechanical order. Auto brokers buy and sell Japanese used cars to Australia and New Zealand because those countries are right hand drive. Looks like they also sell the American left handers to South American countries.

Do you get to see the van in person before you buy it?

It will be shipped to a city that is 4,000 kilometres from your city? What city will it arrive in? Valparaiso is a port city but is only approximately 2200 kilomters away, right ? Will you drive it home or have it shipped to your city? That would be an incredible drive if you can do it. I am jealous, I would love to drive thru Chile (and kayak and mountain bike).

I do not know your used car market down there, but it seems like a fair price for a lot of van, depending on the year and mileage.

Best of luck and let us know which one you purchased.

Thank you very much friend the truth that the vehicle will come to chile coming to the port of IQUIQUE and from there I me will come handling up to PUNTA ARENS, MAYBE 5.000 KILOMETERS OF MY CITY since in both cities we have duty-free zone it(he,she) is to say we do not pay imposed for importing either vehicles or any article.

The white one is a year 1998 and the BLACK 1999 here in my city one of this costs near 11.000 dollars and I will be paying less than the half in addition it(he,she) has only 43.000 kilometres AND IN MY CITY NONE EXISTS AS THESE
In united states do they see great ASTROS of these??? They are made in américa or in another place for which mine is American but in these times there are factories for all sides including small stone and japón

THANKS FOR COMUNICATE WHIT ME........

All Astros were made in Baltimore, Maryland, USA. There was never a right hand drive version for foreign markets. Starcraft up converted many of these vans and are not too difficult to find in the USA, though they usually don't include the ground effects kit installed on the pictured vans.

I don't know if they made any right side drives or not but they do show them in my factory service manuals.

hi hebert12...
i've got one of these "famous" japanese astro's, too and i know two further...

all of them have the same problems:
the wheels are overaged, so take some new wheels with you when you start your 5000km trip...
the brakes are rusty, these vans never drove. in japan there is no space to drive, they got the astros to "show" them.
that brings the next problem: all the steering parts are in very bad condition. take an grease gun with you!
most of the japanese vans are (badly?) painted. with an white or black astro you have been very stylish in japan. so they painted them but they didn't do it very well.
in the interior there are very often parts broken or damaged.

please don't misunderstand me...it's just my experience.

wish you good luck

greets from germany

derek
