I hope i'm not posting this in the wrong section.

I have a 94 Astro van, couple of weeks ago i was on low fuel. When i got off the free way and made a right my van started running sluggish.

my engine light came on as soon as it started running sluggish.

Put Injector cleaner and and something else to clear if any water since it's been hot out here.

replaced:

Fuel filter
Distributor cap
Rotor.

It idles real good, but as soon as i take it around the block it runs sluggish then it kicks into gear then it runs smooth for a little bit, then it runs sluggish up little hills.

anyone care to tell me what it might be?

Best Regards.

have you pulled the code it set?
do you happen to hear a whining sound in the back of your van if so the first thing i would check is the fuel pressure

I disconnected the battery cable so the service engine light is not longer coming on, will it still give me a code if the light is not longer coming on?

If it was the fuel pump would it still be running sluggish? I'll have to figure out how to check the fuel pressure.

if the pump is still alive then yes it could start and run the van at idle but wont provide suffiecient fuel to run the engine at high rpm or under load (like going up hill) at least it's happened to our 95.

the codes if you left the cable off for a while and the light went off the codes have been cleared

to check fuel pressure on my 98 there is valve just inside the doghouse to connect the tester

Since it's a '94, you won't the get really good OBD-II like info from the computer, but it should give you a clue. Drive it around some more and see if you can get the Service Engine Soon (SES) light to come back on. Then retrieve that code and let us know what it is.

Does your van have the CPI engine?
The CPI engines have an EGR valve that can get chunks of carbon caught in it. That would cause a really bad stumble, but also typically causes a poor idle.

If your van is TBI, you'll want to check the spray pattern of your injectors. Could be dirty injectors.

I have heard of low fuel pressure issues due to a ruptured fuel pressure regulator diaphragm.

Your Throttle Position Sensor (TPS) may be ill, too.

Could be lots of stuff... try to get the computer to complain, again, and post the trouble code.
